Byrd cross country coach Scott Jones, who recently suffered a stroke, passed away
Sunday evening, according to coaching associates.

"Scott Jones was a friend and fellow coach, but he was far more than that,” Byrd track coach Juan Plaza said. “He was a generous and caring individual who loved life. He was a man with a heart of gold. He will be missed by all those blessed with crossing paths with him. Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and the many whose lives he touched.”
