Scotty Roblow's 44-yard field goal lifts Byrd to dramatic win
September 9, 2018, 6:44 pm

Senior place kicker Scotty Roblow drilled a 44-yard field goal to lift the Byrd Yellow Jackets to a dramatic 17-14 win over the Bishop Dunne Falcons in the Landers Dodge Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase at Independence Stadium Saturday night.

Roblow's field goal came just seconds after sophomore Braydon Hermes intercepted a Bishop Dunne pass and retuned it to the Falcon's 27-yard line to set up the game-winning field goal. Hermes' interception came one play after Byrd fumbled the ball over to Bishop Dunne on drive deep into Falcons territory.

The 44-yard boot was a career best for Roblow, and raised Byrd's record to 7-1 in Battle on the Border games. Bishop Dunne came into the game ranked No. 2 in the state of Texas and No. 35 in the country.

Byrd (2-0) plays host to the Sulphur Golden Tornados on Friday, Sept. 14 at Lee Hedges Stadium.
