Yellow Jackets open season with a loss

  • The Yellow Jackets fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-3 loss to the Neville Tigers on Monday. Neville scored on a single by Fugler and a double by Steverson in the first inning.
  • The Yellow Jackets struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Neville, giving up nine runs.
  • Neville got on the board in the first inning. Fugler drove in two when he singled.
  • Neville scored six runs in the fifth inning. Neville batters contributing to the big inning included Talley, Steverson and Parker, all driving in runs in the inning.
  • Robinson led the Tigers to victory on the mound. He allowed three hits and one run over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Neville used three pitchersin relief, steering their team towards the victory.
  • Mason Langdon took the loss for Yellow Jackets. He lasted four and a third innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out 13.
  • Jake Harris went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Byrd in hits.
  • Neville didn't commit a single error in the field. Fugler had the most chances in the field with five.
